BROWSER PROTECTION. (For cases where the user is provided with passwords to access restricted areas)

When browsing to the Internet, it is recommended that, in addition to taking care of the basic aspects of IT protection, the following precautionary measures are taken into account:

• Use up-to-date versions of browsers.
• When accessing restricted access area, verify that these are accessed using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) security protocol to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the information provided.
• Only browse well-known websites.
• Do not accept the running of any programmes that are downloaded automatically if you do not trust the location of their download.
• In the event that you use public computers or computers shared with third parties, make sure that the automatic password reminder option is not activated.

1. Password protection.

The passwords provided are absolutely confidential, so it will be the user’s responsibility to make good use of them and they must observe a duty of due diligence in regard to their custody and use.

In this regard, passwords should not be written on paper or in computer documents.

The password may be changed on a regular basis. With this being the case, it is recommended that the chosen password is one that is difficult to guess, avoiding that it coincides with any relevant information, for example, your birthday, date of birth, telephone number, etc.

1. Virus protection.

Viruses are programmes that are installed onto your computer, usually hidden from the user, and are harmful to the user’s computer (for example, destroying files or the hard drive, spreading to other computers within the same network, or causing your computer to malfunction). To avoid possible viruses, it is advisable to:

• Have up-to-date antivirus software, you should review the programme manufacturer’s instructions and keep any automatic updates active.
• Run an antivirus check on any documents received via email or from any third parties such as those sent from portable devices.
• Install secure programmes from reliable sources that do not infringe any intellectual property rights.
• It is recommended you install an anti-spyware system to avoid spyware. It is also recommended that you set up a spam filter system to limit the number of unwanted mass emails.
• If you receive unsolicited emails, we recommend confirming these with the sender or directly deleting the message. Never open them even if sent from a known sender.
• Do not take part in chain mail or indiscriminately forward emails.
• Do not directly open any attached files, it is much safer to extract them to a file system on your computer.

Having an antivirus programme does not guarantee total protection of a user’s computer, mainly due to two reasons: that a virus can be so new that your antivirus programme will not detect it, or a “false positive” can occur, which is when a programme has programming sequences in its code that are similar to a virus.
