PRIM acquires from its subsidiary HERBITAS the Alicante-based company Led3D Newfeet, a leader in the development of 3D printing technology
- The acquisition represents a step forward in PRIM’s commitment to innovation and the application of current 3D additive printing systems for the creation of plantar orthoses, designed to meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
- The agreement will allow the development and commercialisation, nationally and internationally, of the NewFeet system technology, which allows podiatry clinics and orthopaedics to manufacture their own 3D insoles quickly, easily and accurately.
On 4 November, PRIM, through its subsidiary Herbitas, completed the acquisition of the Alicante-based company Led3D Group, a leader in the development of 3D printing technology applied to the manufacture of plantar orthoses.
This acquisition represents a significant step forward in PRIM’s commitment to innovation and will mark a boost to the company’s strategic lines in the development of software for the creation of customised products.
‘We are excited to welcome Led3D to the PRIM family. With this integration, we will be able to offer specialised solutions to our customers, create new synergies between the Podiatry and Orthopaedics portfolios, and take advantage of the Alicante-based company’s experience and leadership in the field of 3D printing,’ explained Fernando Oliveros, executive director of PRIM.
Specifically, this new acquisition will allow to enhance and develop the NewFeet technology, a Led3D design that allows the creation of 3D insoles in a simple, precise and autonomous way, in order to better adjust treatments to the individual needs of each patient.
The system consists of a 3D scanner, with which the exact geometry of the patient’s foot is obtained, and a 3D printer that includes certified, high-quality printing materials, ensuring that the insoles are breathable and flexible. In addition, the technology integrates a software system, designed by podiatrists, which allows the final result of the insoles to be visualised on screen and the necessary corrections to be made in real time, in order to guarantee the effectiveness of the treatment.
‘Thanks to its simplicity, versatility and autonomy, NewFeet will allow podiatry clinics and orthopaedics to manufacture their own insoles, as well as considerably reducing manufacturing times, as they will be available to patients on the same day,’ he added.
The activities of both companies will continue as before. Under the leadership of Lamberto Arce, the Led3D Group team will continue to develop 3D printing systems technology for the manufacture of custom-made plantar orthoses, while Herbitas, a PRIM subsidiary, will exclusively market Newfeet products in national and international markets.
