PRIM concludes its succession plan with the announcement of Fernando Oliveros as the Group’s chief executive

Prim has approved the appointment of Fernando Oliveros as the company’s new Managing Director, who will join the company at the beginning of November.

Fernando Oliveros, born in Mexico City in 1971, began his professional career with the Merck Group and then went on to join Johnson & Johnson in 2003, where he has held executive positions in both Mexico and Spain.

In 2014 he joined Medtronic, a multinational company with a presence in 150 countries. There he climbed the ranks until reaching the position of Vice President of Solutions and Services for Latin America and Managing Director of Central America in 2019.

A chemical engineer with an MBA from IPADE (Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa assigned to the Universidad Panamericana de México), Oliveros has developed his leadership skills at the head of professional associations in both Mexico and Spain. Currently, he is president of the Mexican Association of Innovative Industries of Medical Devices (AMID) and a founding member of the American Society’s business council in Mexico.

From 2011 to 2015 he held management positions in Spain and was president of the orthopaedic sector of the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies (Fenin), to which the Prim group belongs.

His team management and customer focus skills, together with his deep-rooted ethical values, make Fernando Oliveros the perfect ally for the Prim Group’s redevelopment and growth strategy.

With this appointment, Prim’s Board of Directors concludes its Succession Plan process, which was approved in its meeting on 7 May. The plan aims to bring about generational changes and the redevelopment of the Group’s management structures.

The first phase saw changes made to the Board of Directors, with the appointments of Lucía Comenge and Jorge Prim, respectively, as Chair and Vice-Chair of the company’s senior management. Following this, the Board of Directors intensified its efforts to identify a qualified professional to take charge of the day-to-day management of the business. This process has now come to an end with the appointment of Fernando Oliveros.

In the words of the Chair of the Board of Directors, Lucía Comenge: “Fernando knows Prim and shares our strategy, which is based on the professionalism of human teams and innovation, to offer the best technological solutions to our end customers and to improve their quality of life and well-being”.
